Nubian King asked:

Since identity theft is the largest growing crime, what efforts are law officials making to curve this crime. What are some things I can do to protect myself from identity theft, I already shred things of personal matter religiously what else can I do.

Monitor your credit report.

ID thieves can get all of your info off the internet in under 10 minutes if they want to.

Its a travesty really that many times the crooks go unpunished when caught or the sentence is not serious enough to deter. I know that in many cases, credit card companies write it off and then there is no “victim” and the case is dropped when the person gets reinbursed by the credit company. I would love to see some examples being made of the thieves that are caught.

You are already shredding thats a big help.

As the other person said, keep an eye on your credit history/reports
